ITF road and rail action week will run from 3 to 9 October 2016.

The action week started in 1997 as a “Fatigue Kills!” global day of action for road transport workers. Action week gives unions and their members the opportunity to highlight the issues that matter to them and that are impacting on their sectors and on workers. It is also a chance to emphasise how important it is to be part of a union to strengthen activism on the ground and organise new members.

You can find out about the history of action week here.

The most important thing is that road and rail workers and the unions that represent them get involved in action week.

Here’s how:

  • Organise an activity during the Action Week. It might be around an important issue in your workplace or industry. There will be topic-focused days during action week that could be relevant to you. Check back here for information nearer the time. Get inspiration for your activities from what unions organised in 2015. Go to the resources page for materials to help plan your activities.
  • Make sure you share reports, pictures and film clips from your activity. Send details to in blog format and it will be posted on the blog and shared far and wide! The easiest way to make sure this happens is by nominating a contact person. To do that, just fill in details on this quick and easy form.
