Since the beginning of the Action week the trade unions members of FTTUB from rail and urban transport are holding union meetings, working conditions checks, H&S committees meetings and meetings with employers. This mass action will continue during the whole week.

On 4 October the FTTUB held a meeting in the Executive Agency Railway Administration /EARA/, aiming to discuss the current status of the changes in PSO Regulation – as a part of the 4th railway package. From January 2013, the 4th railway package is one of the European legislative initiatives that the Federation of Transport Trade Unions in Bulgaria monitors with increased interest. After the adoption of the technical pillar, the political pillar remains extremely important for trade unions. The final decisions on it are to be taken probably in a few months.

The CEO and experts from EARA brought clarification on the progress of the procedure of the PSO Regulation’s amendments and the official position of Bulgaria on the matter. Ekaterina Yordanova, President of FTTUB, shared her concerns regarding the texts limiting direct award of services and lack of workers protection in case of change of operator. Further, operational issues related to railway safety were discussed. At the end of the meeting it was agreed to conduct sub-sectoral council for tripartite cooperation during which to present and interpret for the social partners the adopted changes within the technical pillar of the 4th railway package and some projects for changes in sectoral legislation.
